  • sound dropouts on imported AVIs?

I am having sound dropouts on imported AVI’s. I imported a 45 min AVI into my PC, selected the areas I want on KM Player (bookmarking in KM Player), then imported the master clip into FCP and made 7 subclips of the areas I want. Unfortunately, I am getting two types of dropouts.

    1) I am getting a dropout where a frame of audio drops out every .5 secs through an entire subclip and

    2) With the 7 rendered subclips on a single timeline the first 4 are playing, the remaining 3 are silent.

What is going on here??? Help! I have used FCP intermittently for years, and I have never encountered this exact type of problem.

    thx

I think you should transfer the AVI’s to QT movies using same frame rate/size and set it to be 48khz. You could either use the same codec you’ve used already or change that to ProRes.
