sorting imported dv clips
Hi
I have imported 1 hours dv tape using sony vegas 8 platinum edition from a sony camcorder. Sony vegas has divided the import into 116 clips which is fine, but when I come to drag and drop the whole lot into the timeline (in order to save it as an MPEG2 file), the clips are not sorted from 1 to 116 properly. The clips are named in the following format: clip ***.avi with *** being the clip number, however the clips are ordered by looking at the first digit and sorting from there:clip 001.avi
then
002
010
100
101 etc
all the way to 116, then
12
13 etc with the last clip being 99.By dragging and dropping the whole lot into the timeline, a lot of the clips are in the wrong order. I could drag and drop individually in the right order, but I’m sure I’m doing something wrong an there is a quicker way of ordering the clips in the right order in the media bin? Strange also that some of the clips are 001, 002, 010 and other are just 9, 11 , 12 etc? Have the clips not been imported properly?
Look forward to an answer, as I have approx 45 DV tapes to import!!

Not sure with Platinmum, but it should be the same as Pro. In the Vegas Exporer window, or even Windows Exporer, set your view to details and click on the “Name box” over the clip names and it will arrange then in a acending or decending order, the drag them in and they will play in that order. I sometimes use Windows Exporer to select files from because Vegas’s doesn’t show some “Hidden” folders, even if I have Windows “Show all hidden files”. For an example, Adobe Ultra has .png files hidded in “Elements” folders that it uses in its virtual sets and they will not show up in Vegas’s explorer window. Hope this helps, Danny Hays
