Experience is one of the things that sets apart the professional from everyone else. It’s like sitting behind the controls of a jumbo jet and going “Man, why is everything so confusing?” To a professional pilot the controls aren’t confusing because through training and experience they’ve learned how to fly the plane and how to read the instruments. Editing is basically no different. Professional editors spend decades learning about the art and craft of editing so it shouldn’t be surprising for someone who is inexperienced to feel in over their heads at times. Especially these days where everything is changing so fast.-Andrew

January 12, 2010 at 8:22 amTotally agreed Andrew. And to gain that experience one has to star somewhere and not delve forever in the reading about what app is best and does what. I’m not a professional editor but I mean, this post was not about being confused about commands in FCP. It was about thinking that the sort order (by name) in the Browser is a bit silly. You don’t agree? As for the rest of stuff I have posted about FCP (like better slomo control over over and under-cranked footage) I have seen pro editors wishing for this also. I’m not saying this is a bad app or we wouldn’t have pro like Walter Murch for instance using it. But the things which I think are “bad” are so easy to enhance, I guess, that I can only imagine why at Apple they on’t see it.

1. step: open bin (with those unlogical sorted files) cmd+A and cmd+X and cmd+V! There you go – all files are sorted by alphabet!
This works only if you allready aren’t USED Arrange by name tool. If you arrange by name, then cmd+A, delete and import files once again and returt to step 1.
I hope this will helps some guys in 2014 🙂
