Hi. I need to upload a file to a site that has the following format/ codec restrictions:

    File Types:
    AVI
    MP4
    Mov
    Mpg
    WMA
    3GP

    Video Codecs:
    H264
    H263
    Windows Video
    DV
    MJPEG
    MPEG2 Program Stream
    MPEG2 Transport Stream
    MPEG4 / DIVX
    VC1

    Audio Codecs:
    Windows Audio
    MP2
    MP3
    AMR
    AIFF
    PCM

have sorenson squeeze. wanted to compress as mp4 but the only audio codec for a mp4 compression seems to be aac, which this site doesn’t allow. is it possible, in squeeze to mix an mp4 video codec with say a mp3 audio codec?

    any help greatly appreciated.

    Yes and no.

Officially MPEG-4 video only goes with MPEG-4 audio like AAC and AMR. You could use AMR but the sound quality is pretty low as it’s designed for delivery to mobile handsets.

However DivX (and Xvid and 3ivx) uses MPEG-4 video with MP3 and wraps it up in an AVI container. That’s pretty much your only option if this site really doesn’t accept AAC.

I don’t think you can create DivX with Squeeze though.

Obviously the site you upload to needs to update the formats it supports, whoever wrote the spec for files needs educating.
