Sony XD CAM workflow with final cut
I have HD footage shot on a Sony XD CAM that was set at HQ quality. Does Final Cut support this quality yet? I read that it currently only supported SP quality.
Also, I downloaded the transfer software froom Sony. I’m not sure but does thi sautomatically install the drivers and presents for Final Cut or do I have to look somewhere else for that?

Works just fine… What version of FCP do you have? I ask this because there has been some issues with the naming conventions of the Sequence setups that are causing issues with the Sony Transfer Software. Its easy to fix and it will work just but let me know so that I can get you the fix for it. This post will tell you how to fix it.

Working in FCP 5.1.4 and running a Kona LHe card. I restarted the computer and the Sony presents showed up. As I said, the footage was shot HQ quality at 35Mbps (VBR) at 24fps. I found a preset for this and I can import and edit just fine, but the Kona card doesn’t seem to want to downconvert and display playback on my broadcast monitor. Is there a compatability issue with Kona and Sony on this I wonder or maybe a setting I’m missing?

Do you have the AJA Control Panel set to downconvert the footage? There is a VERY large thread on this that happened today.
Read it and see if it solves your issue.
