    HI everyone,

I have a love for editing and video but don’t know all the correct terms. So sorry in advance.

When I insert a video clip into the timeline on my Sony Vegas Platinum version, the video is slower than the audio. It looks like I am talking at a different speed that the sound. I don;t know how to change this. I am really frustrated because when I have found tutorials online, they used terms that I didn’t understand. Can someone give me a step by step, normal terms explanation why this is doing this?

I did change the setting on my HD camera to “Standard” before I had it on a high setting but when I called Sony about the camera, the man suggested to use “Standard”. I got really excited when I did a test shoot a few minutes ago and it came out fine. Then, it started to act the same way again with the speaking at a different speed. Can someone please help?

    Thanks!

    Two ideas come to mind:

    1. It could just be that your computer system is not *powerful* enough to handle the high quality and/or highly compressed quality of your videos. If this is the case, you will need to upgrade your system (more memory, better CPU, new motherboard, etc …)

    or

    2. You have a version of Vegas that may not have the right codec to properly handle your video. Older versions of Vegas could not handle many camera AVCHD video formats. If this is the case, you should upgrade your Vegas version.
