Sony Vegas Rendering/Effects Problem
Posted by Jessie Lim on January 22, 2012 at 3:37 pmUsing Vegas Pro 11, I tried to render my video. My video is video fx-heavy. However, after rendering, there were many glitches in my effects (the clip’s on cookie cutter but it alternates quickly between cookie cutter and the normal clip) and I’m hoping someone is able to help me with that problem. Thank you.

January 22, 2012 at 6:21 pmThe solution i found for this is simply when you have
finished editing, you close Vegas,
open up again, load back your project and render out.Steve Rhoden

January 23, 2012 at 7:45 amAlso since your project is effects heavy maybe switch project to 32 bit Floating Point (video levels) in properties just for the render – quality will go way up. Make sure render is set to Best also.

January 23, 2012 at 7:47 pmWhat codec/setting are you rendering to? You can also go into preferences and change try reducing the number of render threads.

January 26, 2012 at 9:12 amSorry for late response – just spotted this. Vegas works in 8 bit color space by default. This fine for most work as most cameras capture in 8 bit and most delivery and broadcast formats are also 8 bit. But when it comes time to color correct your show or ad certain effects like blurs etc it helps to have the extra math to create high quality results with minimal artifacts and banding etc. Vegas allows you to switch your show into 32bit mode when it comes time to add the finishing touches and render. The results can be significantly better even if you render back to an 8 bit final product. If you are working with 10bit material you’ll definitely want to turn 32bit for your final render.
Other NLE’s like Premiere Pro and FCPX work in this floating point space to achieve better results. Programs like After Effects and DaVinci Resolve also allow you to work in 32 bit. Go the Vegas Pro help index and type 32bit for more detailed info.
