    Hi Guys im new here
I’ve seen lots of people getting their questions answered in here so I figured maybe someone could help me with mine.

I have some footage captured on fraps (footage of a computer game) that I cant seem to find a way to render in sony vegas after editing. The footage is at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 30 fps. I selected at the project propreties to automaticly match with the imported video. Then, to render, I did the same thing and went out to find a codec suitable to me, but there were only audio codecs for redering.

I tryed to capture more footage at only full HD (1080p), but at any format that i tried to render my video was ruined with horizontal lines all over it, or with black and white lines all over the place.

Anyone has any idea on how to solve this problem? it seems to work out fine untill i try to render the video.

    Thanks in advance!

It might help if you told us what render formats you have tried and failed. I assume you want to target your video for internet delivery. For best quality you should capture at 1920×1080 and render using MainConcept AVC with the Internet HD 1080p template.

    Thank you for your response.

I tryed pretty much every HD format there is on the default sony vegas pro 12. There are tons of tutorials on the internet on how to render videos from Fraps, and they all manage to simply use windows media video V11 at 8mbs with some custom selections.

The tutorial i was watching was this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD-8ztfXX84

I followed it step by step, everything is the same but my video is completely ruined, almost like a tv with bad reception.

It would be fine for me to render at 1080p, but out of curiosity i’d like to be able to render it at 2560 x 1440.

In my college all we use (regarding codecs) is apple pro res. I noticed there are no codecs in sony vegas to render 2k or 4k, or basicly anything higher then 1080p. Maybe I have to install some special codecs?

Once again thanks for the help

[Miguel Pinto Ferreira] “I followed it step by step, everything is the same but my video is completely ruined, almost like a tv with bad reception.”

It seems like he captured at 1920×1080 which would increase the quality significantly over using a resolution that doesn’t match the output.

I don’t agree with some of what he said. He records and 60fps, disables resample, and then renders at 30fps. He would be much better off if he recorded at 30 fps in the first place because that’s all he has in the end. It also makes no sense to use the Color Corrector and Secondary Color Corrector to do exactly the same thing. All it does it cause Vegas to take longer to render. He should have just boosted the Color Corrector more.

[Miguel Pinto Ferreira] ” I noticed there are no codecs in sony vegas to render 2k or 4k, or basicly anything higher then 1080p. Maybe I have to install some special codecs?”

You can render to 4K using Sony YUV. Just because there isn’t a template doesn’t mean you can’t create one. You could install Lagarith or Motion-JPEG and render that at 4K as well. The question is… how would you deliver it? YouTube maxes out at 1080p and I personally believe it doesn’t look at better than 720p since it’ so highly compressed.
