    Hi Vegas Pros,

I’m using Sony Vegas Pro8c and DVD Architect Pro5. I’ve been working on a project for a few months now and had no problems up until now. I’m getting “The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on ok to terminate the application”.

Does anyone know what this means and how I can get both Sony Vegas Pro8c and DVD Architect Pro5 to open. I’m thinking about unistalling and reinstall the software. What do you think? The gremlins are attacking, help!

What changed on your PC? Do you have a backup that you could restore to a time when Vegas was working? Yes, I would reinstall if you can’t restore to an earlier time.

    Hi John,

I did use a restore point and it still didn’t open up. I also had the same problem with Nero9. I unistalled Nero9 and reinstalled it. Once that open up, I then tried Vegas Pro8 and DVD. They both had open and that’s when I realise that the Gremlins had their fun for the night and went home. All is back to normal until we get “The Return of the Gremlins” back.
Thanks for the quick response John

Actually, the gremlin may have been Nero. Nero 9 is a very invasive program. It installs video filters into the DirectX chain that you can’t remove and it broke my copy of Boris RED. I was unable to read DV AVI files while Nero was installed. I uninstalled Nero and RED worked, I re-installed Nero and RED stopped working. I confirmed this on two different computers.

No matter what I selected in the Nero installer (i.e., all I wanted to install was Nero Burning ROM and nothing else) it still installed these video filters which were clearly not needed for the Burning ROM software. So I would never use a Nero product again. Just something to be mindful of.

    Glad you got it working.
