    hai.

i’m having a severe problem with Sony Vegas Pro 8.
whenever i start sony vegas i get a message saying:
“an Active-X object on this site cannot function with other parts of the site securely. will you allow the object to function with other parts of the site?”

when i click “Yes” i get this error:

“an error has occurred in the script of this site

    Line: 15

    character: 82

error: the error could not be identified

    Code: 0

    URL: file:///[hardrive]/[user]/[user]/AppData/Local/Temp/Updat/Upshell.htm

will you continue to play scripts on this site?

when i click “Yes” the program just closes.

i’ve had this problem before, however. but i’ve always been able to solve it by deleting the entire registry entry associated with Sony Vegas Pro 8.
not an elegant solution, i know, but it worked. until today.
when i delete the registry and fire up Sony Vegas Pro 8, it restores the registry.

now, i know there’s ppl out there who have solved this problem by deleting the registry, just as i did. i was just wondering if anybody knew another way, or perhaps a way of actually repairing the registry.
i’ve tried repairing the registry and scanning for issues using CCleaner, but so far nothing has helped.

hopefully someone here will have an answer to my problem :/ thanks in advance.

PS: i know deleting the registry can cause different errors, but if i have to choose between deleting the registry, and having a working program, or not deleting the registry and have a useless program take up space on my PC, i choose to delete the registry 🙂

What you are pointing out seems like a trojan/virus
masking itself somehow more than anything else…
especially if things are pointing to your:
    [user]/AppData/Local/Temp/Updat/Upshell.htm

Sounds like a virus to me too (or malware). I would do a virus and malware scan of your computer. Clean out that temp folder too. When I start Vegas Pro 8.0 it doesn’t make any folder like that in the temp directory.
