Sony Vegas Pro 9.0e Zoom Problem
I have Vegas Pro 9, 32-bit, fully upgraded. It’s run fine for nearly a year, but the last few weeks I’ve been experiencing problems. Whenever I set the Zoom on a video clip in the timeline to the desired size, it only changes from that section on. I have to go back to the beginning of the clip, which is still in the original size, and fix it frame by frame. As I really don’t have the time to do that for my personal projects, I’m not getting any use out of my expensive program. I have tried reinstalling–three times–but the problem persists. I’ve checked the codecs for these videos, and while the formats vary, they doesn’t seem to be the culprit. I never had these problems with Pro 8, and I’m wondering if it’s simply an issue with Pro9? I really do like the darker interface because it’s easier on the eyes, but it’s not worth keeping if I can’t fix this.
If someone could help, or simply offer advice, I would appreciate it. Especially, since Sony takes weeks–sometimes months–to answer customer complaints.

Im not fully understanding exactly what problem you are
having. Is there a possibility you have a few extra
keyframes on the timeline that are enabled or something?Steve Rhoden

Thank you, for responding. I’ll try to be clearer in my explanation:
On the timeline, when I click on the white Event/Pan square on the media, it opens like normal. I right-click and set it to match output parameters. In the preview window and on the clip itself, it looks fine. As soon as I play the clip, however, it begins in the original ratio and slowly zooms in until it reaches the point on the clips where the cursor/play-line is resting. It’s on the correct ratio then, but it zooms right back out, just as slowly, until the end of the clip. I’m not actually using keyframes right now, just trying to change the aspect ratio to what I need, so that shouldn’t even be an issue. I did check, however, and I didn’t find any extras that shouldn’t be there. I’ve started several new projects, and even went so far as to replace all of my original media, in case that was causing the problem, but it still persists.

It sounds like you have Sync Cursor enabled and it’s creating a keyframe without you realize it. Check the first button on the bottom of the Pan/Crop window (with the I and the Lock) and make sure that it is not enabled.
Alternately, go to the first keyframe in the event and click on it to give it focus, then match output aspect and the clip with begin with the correct aspect crop.

Thank you so much. It was the Sync Cursor, which I must have locked without realizing it. Everyday I work with Vegas I learn something, it seems. I will certainly be more careful in the future. It’s working great again, and I’m already working on another project. So, again, thank you.
