sony vegas pro 9 and VSTi
Posted by Mike Mint on April 7, 2010 at 10:45 pmcan sony vegas pro 9 utilize virtual instruments???
i’m pretty sure it can use VST effects, but as far as instruments are concerenced, i’m confused.
will vegas pro 10 add VSTi if 9 doesn’t have that feature?

April 7, 2010 at 11:07 pmVST is no problem but Vegas can’t handle VSTi.
You need to get Acid Pro for that feature.
You’d have to send a feature request to Sony asking for VSTi implementation but, as it’s already built into Acid, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it.
There haven’t been any rumours about Vegas 10 yet as we’re still waiting for the Pro 9.0d update (to be shown at NAB next week). -

April 7, 2010 at 11:28 pmok…i might just have to do that…
if users can’t get VSTi support, Sony Vegas Pro should at least get ReWire support!
with either of those two features / characteristics (VSTi or ReWire implementation) Sony Vegas Pro would be the first of all video applications make that specific step.

April 8, 2010 at 9:13 amDespite it’s beginnings as a multitrack audio program, Vegas is now a video editor with some audio features as an added bonus.
Sony already has Acid so I personally see no need to clutter up Vegas with features desired by only a small percentage of users. -

April 8, 2010 at 6:01 pmyes…sony acid does already have that feature…but what if i wanted to seamlessly link sony vegas AND sony acid?
the best tool to link all of your sony software AND other multimedia applications is through the utilization of ReWire.
AND sony vegas would be the FIRST of all video-based applications to make the transition into A/V application integration.
