  • Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 will not Render!

Hi there. First off, I apologize if this has already been asked. I just finished a project in Sony Vegas Pro 8.0, it has been a while since I have done anything on it, but I finally did.

I went to go render it out, and nothing happened! When I clicked it, I tried it as an .avi first, it should the ‘rendering’ window, except it finished in like 2 seconds, and the only thing it rendered was like 2 seconds of black. I then preceded to try every video file on there (.wmv, a different .avi, .mp4)….And NONE of them worked, they all did the exact same thing. On everyone, I kept it on ‘Default settings’

If this is pertinent, I am using a Dell, Windows XP (Not that great, but meh). Does anyone know how I can get it to actually render my project??? Also, when I click on “Render as…” before I start rendering, please tell me everything that should or should not be checked, because I can’t remember. Stuff like “Render Loop Region only” etc. All those options, please tell me if they should/should not be clicked, because I am REALLY lost.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you rendering a loop region? If so, you need to set the in and out points.

Yep done that before and realized I had the loop selection checked and had not highlighted the loop region. We’ve all done it…hope this helps

    Wow, do I feel foolish.

Well, there is problem number one solved. Now that I have gotten it to render, it doesn’t render the video. It does the titles, I am not sure about the audio, but then the video is just a black screen.

The video files that I brought in are AVI, I again tried rendering with all the different video files, and they all look the same, titles, but no video. I tried this with Render Loop Region selected, and all my video highlighted. And I tried it with no video highlighted, and “Render Loop Region” disabled, same thing either way.

    Thank you, once again.

Presuming that you can view all your videos via the preview window I would have to ask if you have checked to be sure the tracks you want rendered are not muted and that you also have not accidentally soloed any of the other tracks? If you look at all the tracks they should all be the same color. (hence not selected) Make sure the exclamation point (solo) and mute are not selected. That would be the only things that would prevent those being rendered. You did not say what format you are rendering to but none would leave out any specific tracks but some will do only audio or only video.

I’m sure this is simple solution…let me know.

The same problem happens to me. The audio and text renders but not the video. The text is on a chequered background so it is transparant (according to vegas pro help) and shows up on the video when viewing the project in vegas pro. Rendering is a whole different story. I have tried moving the video to different tracks but still no video wherever I put it. I have also tried different formats i.e wvm, acv, avi, mpeg1, mpeg2 etc and still no video just black background but text appears wherever I have set it to.
All tracks are the same colour. None are muted and none are soloed. It is more complicated than that. My thoughts are with the hardware. Maybe the graphics card is the problem. I have 3 tracks. Top track is text, 2nd track is the video. Nothing on the 3rd video track and then first audio has the music.
Apart from that all I can do is bang my head against the wall or curse the program and wish I had spent the time making the video with some other program.
Lastly no solve on any search I have carried out using google and I have tried many different combinations.

I’m personally not so sure about this problem, but the thing you should try is to right click your clip, scroll down to “Switches” and select “Disable Resample”. I don’t know what resampling does, but it did the trick for me and made sure it didn’t render in black screen.

I just started having the same problem as well. I have Vegas 9.0 & it’s worked great since i got it about a year ago… Then just today it started only rendering audio.

Hopefully someone can come up with a solution.
