Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 crashing almost non stop
Firstly, i apologise if this has been posted elsewhere, i couldn’t find it.
I have been working on a project for a while no problem using Sony Vegas 6.0, then I got to a stage and it wouldn’t perform any tasks after about 30 seconds of opening or when I reached a certain point on the timeline (when played from start).. It would encounter an error and have to close. Every time.
I thought i could solve it by getting Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro, but it happens on this too.
Would it have anything to do with number of video tracks being processed at once? (i have 10 open with 5 used at one point) Or a lack or processing power?I had a look at the error reporting, and it always seems to have something to do with “frapsvid.dll”, all my footage is fraps footage.
I think i heard somewhere of a conflict between fraps clips and Vegas, anybody offer any clarification?Would appreciate a speedy response, have been working on it for a couple of weeks and it is nearing completion!

Take a look here.
You may want to adjust your RAM preview size down to 16 mb or 128mb and see if that helps. The other option would be to split up the video, render out to some format such as a lossless avi (or near lossless) and put those files on a new timeline and encode to your final render format.

I can almost guarantee you that those frap files on the timeline
is causing your occasional problem. Does it crashes when you are editing regular files?Steve Rhoden

Splitting up the video seemed to help, have cut it down to 3 sections.
Any reason for this? Any way to stop it in future? i.e. running it through virtualdub first off or what?Thanks for help
