Ok I’m getting a little used to this program. This may sound like a basic question but I need help. Up until now I save my work and my little 10 minute movies to a VEG file and most of the time export to You-Tube right from Vegas. So I have Windows Operating system and in the movie format they use is a WMV file. How do I export my Vegas movie instead of You-Tube just in “My Movies” on my computer so I can just look at it without opening the program? If its like this I can also put a few clips on my Tablet to show people?
    Please help !!!!!!!
    Thanks

You need to create a video file which will encapsulate all that you have done in Vegas Pro. You do that with the “Render as” command which is one of the “File options”. Once you click on render as, you will see an extensive list of the types of files which Vegas can create. Pick one of those, and render your video.

Just in case your next question is, “Which one do I pick?”

WMV is an old proprietary Windows format. If you are sure that you will only want to view this on your Windows computer then I guess you can render to that:

File | Render As | Windows Media Video V11 (*.wmv) | 8 Mbps HD 1080-30p Video

I would recommend that you render to MPEG4 which is a ubiquitous Internet friendly format that supports smart phones, tablets, YouTube, Linux, Mac, and yes, Windows:

    File | Render As | MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4;*.avc) | Internet HD 1080p

This assumes that your video is HD 1920 x 1080. If not, select a template that uses the dimensions of your video.
