Any feedback from Sony yet? What’s your current status?

Better late than ever. Looks like the problem has been fixed with the latest release of Sony Vegas Pro 13 (build 373) :

    2.0 What’s New
    Notable fixes/changes in version 13.0 (build 373)

    * Fixed a bug that could cause Vegas Pro to crash when using File > Import > Import Media from Project.
    * Fixed a bug that could cause Vegas Pro to hang when playing some H.264 MP4 video files.

So far, I have only tested a few videos that were freezing, they seem to work fine now.

Hello, just to say that actually the problem has not been fixed. It’s still present in the latest Vegas Pro 13 (build 453) 🙁

Hello guys. I tried dropping it into Vegas 12 build (367) and it works perfect. It even plays with preview set to best full, not seeing every frame but totally usable. This is on a Sony I7 laptop. The media tab shows the file is 25 FPS. I did import it into a new instance of Vegas and when I dragged to the timeline I clicked yes to match project settings to file. But,, when I use Gspot to analyze the file, it shows it’s 50 FPS. Not sure why that is.

Just tried the file with Sony Vegas 13 Build (290) and it locks up.

Danny Hays, thanks for your input !

I hope they fix this very annoying bug one day :-((( It’s not as if I had used weird encoding parameters so I think that quite a lot of people who use Main Concept have the same problem …

Even when I render the video using the latest Sony Vegas 13 (build 453), and try to load it, it hangs.

What’s weird is that the video was created using Sony Vegas, yet Sony Vegas can’t read it. I hope I can get my hands on the older version SVP12 build 367. Thanks again Danny !

EDIT : The video that I attached to my first message doesn’t lock up on Sony Vegas 13 (build 453). But another one, that I will upload in a minute, does.
EDIT 2 : it locks up on Sony Vegas Pro 12 build 770 too.

So I came across your posts .. and I am having the same issues … anyone find a way to fix this?

I just received the raw footage from my skydiving adventure and now I can not edit it .. just keeps locking up as soon as I import the footage.

Adobe reads it find … but I don’t want to learn how to use after effects .. blah ……
