Sony Vegas Pro 12 Render issue
Before I begin, I just would like to say that this is a long running message board I have been following and for the first time in years, I’m actually making an account. ^_^
Anyways, here is the problem.
I have been having the most frustrating issue with Sony Vegas in relation to rendering in 720p as of late.
My original system
Win7 32 bit
4 gigs of DDR2 Ram
8600 GT Graphics Card
AMD 965 Quad Core.(3.4 GHZ)For the longest time my system could and would render videos properly, no issues, sure the render times may be a tad bit long but the videos came out great!
Then it happened, the videos Id render in WMV would become choppy…oddly enough it was consistent across ALL videos Id render in 720p. The video itself looked great but the file when played (And no isnt some kind of codec issue during playback as the file maintained the choppy-ness after being uploaded) would become incredibly choppy.
Should note I was using Sony Vegas Pro 9 (Which ever was the last version..E?)
Now, I had plans to update my system so I took it as maybe some setting in Sony vegas had gotten borked so I held off.
Fastfoward to now…
Win7 Pro 64bit
GTX 650 Graphics Card
Same Processor Clocked to 3.8 GHZ
SSD Boot Drive
16 Gigs of DDR 3 Ram Clocked at 1600 (Stock Clocked)Clearly the system has improved, so I upgraded to Vegas 12, and was sure my issue would be fixed. Lo and behold…it wasn’t…
The boot drive isn’t the same, a majority of the hardware isn’t the same anymore. Except for maybe the 640 gig WD Green Drive for raw file storage.
I’m tearing my hair out at this point, if anyone can help it would be great.
As far as WMV Settings
2 Meg Bit rate
29 FPS Or 30
pretty typical settings beyond that. -

First off, do you want to render something NOW and put into DropBox so I can view it on WMP? LEt’s see if I get this chopyness.

What changed? Because something changed. Computers don’t just behave differently on their own. Maybe a piece of software that you added? Something cause this to stop working.
Have you tried rendering to another internet format like Sony AVC or MainConcept AVC? Are they choppy too?

In response to your first statement, I was sure that my rebuilding the system would fix the issue, after all when you remove EVERYTHING and go back to basics that should do it.
Here is the kicker. I installed Vegas, pretty much on a clean install minimal drivers, and still found this same problem. Is there a setting I’m missing? Has my PC suddenly become outmoded by the computer gods only hours after I built it?
MP4 goes, I have messed with main concept but I am not entirely sure on the quality versus WMV.
Give me a bone to work with and ill tear this system down. Anything you can think that I could have installed that WOULD cause this?

You are forgetting that WMV is a Microsoft controlled codec. Perhaps they broke it with one of their updates which would also be on your new computer. Personally I would never use WMV.

If MainConcept AVC works then you have your solution. MP4 is the new web video standard and the quality is the same as WMV.
