Just to make clear, my vegas is crashing whilst playing the footage (pressing play and not using ram preview). No fx have been used yet. Just 3 tracks, 1 video, 1 muted audio and 1 audio. Regardless of the preview quality, it just seems to freeze up and crash. Any ideas? I have tried messing with the ram for the dyanmic ram preview in the options and no luck.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ak.

Is it crashing with a specific file on the timeline or with
    everything you drop in it?

What does your project consist of? Video or stills. I have seen Vegas have issues with stills that have crop/zoom/rotates in playback.

So, GPU processing is off (now). No it is not a problem with dragging in footage or anything. Just as I press the generic play/enter button and let it go. So far, the video consists of just raw footage and music. Nothing else. Just made the attempt to recreate it (the same way I did multiple times yesterday) and well, now its working just fine. Thank you for that. GPU Processing off did it.

Glad you got that sorted out. As for me and a headache free
editing, i simply dont use any GPU processing in my entire workflow.

This solved the problem for me! The interesting thing is, all you have to do is turn off GPU Acceleration, restart Vegas, then you can turn it back on, restart Vegas, and the problem is gone. At least I haven’t had the problem since.
