Sony Vegas Pro 11 rendering default template? (uncompressed avi)
Posted by Ashley Kay on December 20, 2011 at 9:49 pmI am using Sony Vegas Pro 11 and I would like to render the profect in the default template which is the uncompressed AVI. How come Sony Vegas Pro 11 doesn’t have this format like the older versions do?

You would have to ask Sony why they made this change. Since using the default template is absolutely the wrong choice 99% of the time, I’m guessing they removed it to reduce support calls. It is very rare that someone would need to render to uncompressed and unless they had a RAID 0 array with a minimum of 5 drives, they shouldn’t even be thinking in these terms for HD work.
Why do you feel you need uncompressed?
Why not just create your own template if you absolutely need it?

December 20, 2011 at 11:25 pmI just found it the uncompressed format. What I usually do is I render it uncompressed and compress it using a separate software program.

That’s the 1% where uncompressed makes sense. 😉

January 4, 2013 at 5:55 pmThat is so not helpful. You asked a question, other people with the same question perform a Google search and find this post. Then you say, “I found it,” but you don’t say where/how. This thread is officially worthless as a result. If you have a moment, please explain how to render videos to uncompressed AVI format in Vegas Pro 11. Thank you.

This topic (custom render template) has been discussed on here numerous times.
After you pick the format you want (in this case AVI), click the Custom button and then make the necessary changes in the window that comes up.
Be sure to save it so that it will come up for future use.
