I was just going to post the exact same issue, but I haven’t tried uncompressed .avi – this exact same thing happens when I try to render mp4 files under the Sony or Main Concept templates. This is making it very hard to use Vegas 11 at all.

Yes, I am using the updated version.

I also get a crash every time I put New Blue Titler on the timeline (this works in Vegas 10).

    Thanks for any answers.

    Jordan,
I was reading another thread about NewBlue Titler and decided that might be causing the problem. Uninstalling NewBlue didn’t change anything, but when I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas 11 after that, my rendering problems went away. Worth a try!
    Cheers,
    Mary

I take it back! It worked for 3 short renders then broke again. Reinstalling again did not help. Sorry. I have a registered a support ticket with sony media about this, but they have been disappointly unresponsive over this and other Vegas 11 issues I am having.

    Hi Mary,

As you may have noticed, I too am having v11 render issues. Can’t render in Main Concept at all. I get an error (see other post if you want).

    Q. How did you register a support ticket? how do you follow up with it? I’ll do the same.

A bit disappointed with Sony/v11 so far because these problems are causing me grief with my deliverables.

    Cheers,

    Gilles

go to the support section of sony’s website and register:
    https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/myaccount/register.asp
then send an email to technical support. They will give you a ticket number and respond (eventually).

I’m using Vegas 10 for anything important right now as 11 is completely unreliable for me as of yet.

I wish I could… Alas I was using the trial version of 10 until it expired, then purchased 11 (update from v9) so I’m kind of in a bind.

I wonder if I should try to get Sony to “give” me a license for 10?

[Gilles Gagnon] “I wonder if I should try to get Sony to “give” me a license for 10?”

    Good luck with that 🙂
Your only hope is to find someone who has successfully upgraded to Pro 11 and is willing to sell you their copy of Pro 10 for a reasonable price.

I know, I was joking. I’ll just hope that someone can offer some workaround/solution for this critical issue.

I’ve also posted a problem report on SonyCreative’s website.

It’s just disappointing when things that used to work, cease to, after an update that I paid for. Especially when your professional work depends on it.
