May 7, 2013 at 3:20 amI had the same problem. It is really annoying, with every update comes more problems from increased complexity. Pain in the butt.
Anyway- here’s the fix that I found:
Go into PREFERENCES under OPTIONS
Go to AUDIO DEVICE
I changed to WINDOWS CLASSIC WAVE DRIVER—
That gave me my audio in the render.
Make sure when you render that you scroll down to CUSTOM TEMPLATE, open the AUDIO tab, and check mark
INCLUDE AUDIO.That worked for me. The initial Audio Device would not work, including my Creative Sound Blaster 24bit card. I don’t know why, because it’s always worked before.

May 7, 2013 at 3:36 amI had the same issue-
Here’s how I fixed it-
Go to OPTIONS/PREFERENCES/AUDIO DEVICE
Change to WIndows Classic Wave Mapper– or another audio device than the one that didn’t work
Make sure you check INCLUDE AUDIO in Custom Template before rendering (scroll down)

July 17, 2013 at 1:41 pmHi,
Had this problem since upgrading to V12Pro. Only workaround in past was to RESTART PC and then open V12 and not do anything other than select RENDER. Then I was ok. If I tried to add or delete some video from timeline the RENDERED audio was GONE; not all the time but lots of times. I will try the above noted solution.
Thanks

October 24, 2016 at 1:13 amThanks for the inputs on this. I also ran into a problem with missing audio, and after a search on YouTube, I saw that this appears to be a fairly common problem. One fix appears to be:
- Save your project
- Close Vegas
- Reopen Vegas
- Reopen your project
- “Save As” an MP4 without doing ANYTHING ELSE
At least that worked for me. Next time around, I will do some poking around to see if I can find improper settings.
