    Hi,

Im a novice when it comes to editing and only ever mess about with Sony Vegas Pro 10 to put together some family home movies.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest some of the FX to play around with to improve the quality of my output video. I am recording in 1920 x 1080i. Is there anything I can tweak to improve the sharpness of the high def without making it look too artificial / processed?

    Any tips would be great.

    Matt

Have you tried the Sharpen FX in Vegas? This is the first time I’ve seen someone ask to make HD “more sharp”. If your HD isn’t sharp, perhaps you need a new camera? Usually people are looking to make it less sharp and more film like. 😉

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

Well I’m using a Sony HDR-XR520VE and recording at the highest setting. I asked about sharpening up the HD as I am a little disappointed in the quality at times. I try to compress my output videos as little as possible but was just seeing if there was anything I could do to give my HD videos a bit more “WOW” factor.

Ive been playing around with some of the colour FX to try and make my colours pop a bit more but I tend to make them over saturated.

I understand that subtle changes are the key but Im struggling to find any changes at all at the moment that I think are an improvement.
