Sony Vegas Never responding

Thomas- try this:
Go to your Windows ‘Run’ prompt and type: msconfig
The Windows System Configuration window should appear. Click the ‘Startup’ tab.
Uncheck EVERYTHING that has a checkmark EXCEPT your anti-virus/security software.
Click ‘Apply’ and then click ‘OK’. It should ask you to reboot the system.
Once your system boots back up, launch Vegas and see if it works without crashing.

I forgot where I found this years ago when StackHash crashes were hitting Vista a lot.

“StackHash is not a real module. It is a constructed name because the Instruction Pointer was pointing to a known module at the time of the crash. The number after the StackHash_ is a semi-unique number calculated at the time of the crash such that if the same crash occurred on multiple PCs then they have a reasonable chance to be correlated.”

If you are familiar with programming, a Stack is where a program pushes data about itself before handing execution to a subroutine. That subroutine may call other subroutines. When a subroutine is finished, the contents of the stack are “popped” off and the program (or subroutine) that made the call to the terminated subroutine resumes where it left off. If this stack gets corrupted, you will get a StackHash error.

What complicates this is that the subroutines that use the stack can be anywhere. they can be in the application itself, in a system DLL or a device driver. Worse, your PC is capable of multitasking – running multiple programs at the same time. Any of these, in theory, can corrupt another programs’ stack.

I seriously doubt that the problem is in Vegas because it would have shown itself in testing long ago, and I’ve never seen this error fromother users’ crashes.

Things to try:
Disable any Virtual Drive software.
Disable any Virus checkers on your machine (temporarily).
Do not overclock. (Ever).
Remove unneeded drivers.

In your specs, I saw: GPU: 2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
What is your PSU (Watts)? A marginal PSU can result in random bits of data in RAM being written wrong, which could cause this error. The stack lives in RAM. If you started with an off-the-shelf PC then added more RAM, hard drives and power-hungry GPU cards, your PSU could be marginally underpowered. But an underpowered PSU usually presents itself as a random PC reset.

Also, do you have a Wacom tablet?

It’s puzzling that you have the same problem on three different PC’s. Are you installing Vegas and all of the supporting programs plugins and drivers before you ever start using Vegas?

Hey guys. Sorry for my lack of response lately. Been working a lot and was recently at the cabin for a week to film some landscape shots and planning some masking techniques for my next project. I will do some more in depth research on the tips you gave me and get back to you on that. I would never dare to over clock my computer, that’s why i bought a powerfully computer to handle the workflow without tweaking it too much. But i owe you all a big thanks for trying to figure out this mess. I’ll get back to you soon.

Ok, So Sony Vegas stopped responding again, and i used the “Resmon” method again. Right clicked Sony vegas, Analyze Wait Chain and i got this image (numbers different each time)

I tried ending the prosess (both the main once, and the one under it) but every option just ends the entire program.

my GPU Watts are:
Maximum Graphics Card Power: 170W
Minimum System Power Requirement: 500W

My power supply has 750W so it’s above the requirements.

Can the problem be in my Vegas setup? i have tried default settings. but should i use GPU acceleration ect, and how much RAM limit should i use according to my specs? Maybe someone here has any sugestion according to my specs?

and to answer previous questions; i bought the computer built from the manufacturor. Nothing has been upgraded by me. All i did was chose from a drop down list what specs i wanted, and all the parts sugested shoud work perfectly together.
Vegas does not start on bootup, i run it manually.
And i don’t have a Wacom Tablet.
I don’t think i have any other programs or plug-ins that i have installed before running vegas for the first time either.
