Sony Vegas movie studio vs Final Cut Pro X
I currently use and enjoy Sony Movie studio and am pretty good at using most of its features.
However, I am now using a superfast imac. To use Sony, I have to use Parallels. It works fine but it is inconvenient when it comes to importing video.. and it doesn’t take advantage of my fast hardware.
How good is Final Cut Pro. Does it have features I will appreciate over sony? How is the learning curve if I am familiar with the sony product? Are there features I will miss? Any other suggestions (re using sony with parallels).

My understanding is Parralels is not the way to go.
New Mac’s can boot to pure windows using bootcamp.
I can not say for sure that there won’t be ( Driver) issues, but it should use the full power of your hardware.

Vegas runs in Bootcamp. I have Vegas 9 running in Bootcamp with Window XP home. As an experiment, I tested Parallels, and got problems. I just upgraded to a brand new iMac, and have Vegas 12 running in Bootcamp with Window 7 64-bit. I am still hammering out all the crashy-bugs. But who isn’t? : )
As far as Brad’s comments about Drivers. When you are creating the Bootcamp disc, Boot Camp Assistant has you download Drivers (and burn them to a CD). You use them later as part of the Window install process. My trackpad and mighty mouse both work in Bootcamp now.

I have now been doing this for months. I have had no problems running in parallels. I can’t run bootcamp because it won’t work on the 3T fusion drive on the new macs (thanks Apple!).
It is possible I am not getting all the power of my new computer… but so far, it runs just like it did on my windows computer when I use parallels!
