    x264? You mean h.264?
h.264 is a presentation format and does not edit well.

If I *had* to work with a highly compressed source, like h.264, the first thing I would do is make an uncompressed intermediate, probably an uncompressed mov or avi.

[blabla blalba] “The file was recorded with a x264 codec. I tried rendering with mp4 and wmv, both give the same picture defects.
Is there any way to solve this problem?”

Yes, stop recording in that format. 😉 I assume you are using x264 in an AVI container? Vegas does not handle this well at all. Why aren’t you using FRAPS?

In the mean time, try using a tool like AviDemux 2.5 to convert the footage to Motion-JPEG which will edit easier. Here are the settings you should use:

It’s funny because this never happened to me before, I use this codec alot.. it provides high quality and very small files. I will try what you suggested, thank you.
