SONY VEGAS font problem(increadibly annoying!) please help
hello fellow vegas users,
i beg you please help i dont want to reinstall my XP..
what i did i just deleted a couple of fonts(actually many many of them) from my FONTS folder and what happened is that in my SONY VEGAS in a couple of places default fonts changed to some strange fonts https://hypermotion.org/seb/sge1.jpg and now it all looks crap and i’m loosing functionality cause some things are not displayed at all(cause i think that the new font is bigger than the last one and it cuts out some stuff) have a look at the picture you can clearly see the problem there..
it happens in many places like effects, transitions and media generator controls.. it makes work with vegas more difficult and a couple of things are not accesible at all now..1) after deleting all the fonts and noticing that something is wrong i quickly RESTORED all of them but that didn’t fix the problem
2) i reinstalled vegas, didn’t help at all
3) i played around with vegas’s preferences(like xp theme support and stuff) and it didn’t help either
4) i changed my desktop theme in hope to affect vegas somehow but didin’t work eitherI really really dont want to reinstall my whole system

i reinstalled NET FRAMEWORK 3.0 and vegas again after that and didn’t help either.. i’m furious i dont know what to do.. i purchased NEWBLUEFX plugins recently and i can’t use them now cause some of it’s functions don’t show up(are kind of cut out due to this font change)..

Did you try a system restore to an earlier point? I can see installing Vegas not changing anything because it isn’t Vegas that changed – it’s your system that changed. I’d try the system restore first. Otherwise, it’s your system you’re going to have to fix.
If you have “large fonts” chosen in your display settings, you might also try changing that to normal.

hi jeditv! thanks a lot for your reply.. actually i got my system restore switched off so can’t use it unfortunately.. was wondering about WINDOWS repair thing from the boot CD.. i’ve found on sony vegas tech support forum that someone got the same problem as me https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=588013 exactly identical.. i emailed that guy to ask if the reinstall worked for him but he didn’t reply.. anyway i’m lost and i dont know what to do.. the last thing i want to do is to reinstall my XP to fix such a tiny(but very annoying) thing

On my first XP machine I also turned it off – until I needed it. Since then I’ve left it on on all new machines and have not regretted it as I have had to use it a few times.
Here’s what I might try first: MOVE those font files to a different folder on your hard drive. Then go into the fonts control panel and “ADD” these fonts back in.

thank you so much for your time and ideas edward, unfortunately it didn’t help :-(( i think this is beyond repair and im waiting on sony tech support to get back to me to acknowledge it.. i need to reinstall my XP or should i try to repair it somehow maybe? is there any alternative to system restore? . i dont want to lose my registry(dont even want to think about reintalling all the codecs, software, drivers etc)

Based on your descriptions, I don’t feel this is at all a Vegas-related problem. Vegas only mimics the Themes you have selected, and that includes fonts.
I don’t think you’d need to reinstall windows, but you might try a repair install of windows. I’d also recommend turning on System Restore for your Boot drive, at the least. I don’t use SR for other drives, but for the Boot drive…it’s a good plan.
Try setting your theme to “standard” or “default” and see where that gets you.
Be sure fonts aren’t set to 120%, this can cause problems for some plugins.Douglas Spotted Eagle

what a nightmare, nothing helps and the tech support just copy pasted me some instructions about reinstalling vegas.. i guess that forces me to try to install/repair XP.. but i never did it before and i dont want to affect any other software by trying to repair vegas
