    Sony Vegas and Blu-Ray

    Hello All,

    I am using Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro. I have a question about Blu-Ray. I currently have a Panasonic BD-30K Blu-Ray player in the t.v. room. I do NOT have a Blu-Ray burner.

    I have some projects that were filmed in using a Canon HV-20 camera. I rendered the projects as MPG2 and used DVD Architect to create standard DVDs.

    Not having a Blu-Ray burner on the computer, I then rendered the files back onto a new Mini-DV in the HV20. Now, I can watch the same projects in HD via HDMI into my Denon receiver then out to the other components.

    My question has to deal with the best way to archive my projects until Blu-Ray burners/media fall in price.

    Should I just render each individual project back onto the Mini-DVD tape?
    Should I render a Blu-Ray .m2v file? If I do render this file, what should I render the audio portion as? If I render in this manner, I realize I can’t view the project on my t.v. but it does give me the freedom to back it up to a DL DVD for safe keeping.

    1-Put a regular DVD 5/9 in your standard DVD burner.
    2-Edit your project in Vegas using an HD template
    3-Tools | Burn Disc | Blu-ray disc
    4-Burn
    5-Put this disc in your Panasonic BD player and enjoy your video in high def from a standard DVD 5/9

    Morning Douglas,

    Thanks for the help. I have done exactly what you told me. I’ve rendered to DVD-RW twice and once to a single layer DVD-R. The project is small – just trying to see if it works – 3.5 minutes in length.

    The render always gives me a screen saying that everything went fine and no errors were made. BUT, when I placed any of the 3 dvds into my Panasonic DMP BD-30K, it wouldn’t play. I just get a message, “This disc is incompatible”

    For the project template, I am using HD 1080-24p (1920×1080, 23.976 fps)

    Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    No other ideas, I’m afraid. I don’t own a Panasonic BD player, but these work fine on my Sony and Samsung players.
    Perhaps change media? Drive to Best Buy and see if they play in the Sony, Samsung, LG players?
