Sony Vegas 9 Rendering Problem
Hey, whenever I render my video and play it, several clips go missing and all that plays is black, then clips will reappear, then they will go missing again etc. But when I am editing it and previewing it on the actual program everything is fine. Help is needed as it is for a School Project that is due pretty soon. It will be much appreciated if you can help.

What format are the clips that go missing? What codec do they use? If it’s DivX or XviD that’s the problem. Vegas does not like these formats.

Sorry to sound stupid lol, but how do I find out if it is one of those formats? Also, some of the clips that go missing are from the exact same place and I assume the same format as some that don’t go missing.

Oh actually, I just looked and the format says Xvid MPEG-4 Codec.

BINGO! There’s your problem. The solution is to find a video converter to convert them to a format that Vegas can edit and render. Some folks like a converter called Super(c). I find it rather anoying but it’ll work in a pinch. Some codecs to try are HuffYUV and Lagarith. They are both lossless and free but make very large files.
