I want to turn off the audio for a clip. The audio mute button lowers the volume, but it doesn’t completely turn it off. I have also tried lowering the volume bar on the clip with the same result. Suggestions?

    Thanks!

I am having the exact problem; I want a song to override the muted clip. Have you had any luck yet?

I copied the video and audio clips and pasted them into a blank project. That solved the audio mute problem for most of the video clips. The problem remains with several video clips, however.

This is the only problem I have ever had with Sony Vegas 9. It is an amazing program and far surpasses other editing programs I have tried.

Arnold & Mary, the first thing I would do is to make sure your sound card drivers are up to date.
If that doesn’t fix things, then consider a re-install of Vegas as this is not normal behaviour.
I just tried it on my system and mute worked perfectly.
I dropped a song on the timeline, boosted the audio control in the track header to maximum as well as raising the master fader to maximum and pressed mute.
Even with my speaker volume at full, I couldn’t hear anything.

If a re-install doesn’t cure it, file a trouble report with Sony.
