Ok, so I currently have the trial of MS platinum 8 and have been considering buying Vegas 8. Before I did that I figured I’d check on when Vegas 9 is being released.

I’ve found several articles with the same basic info that can be found here: https://www.letsgodigital.org/en/19309/sony-vegas-software/

I was wondering if any of you “in the know” know what the version 9 products listed compare to. They seem to have different naming conventions and I didn’t see a straight “Vegas 9” but rather:

“Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack (MSRP U.S. $129.95), Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Edition (MSRP U.S. $99.95), Vegas Movie Studio 9 (MSRP U.S. $69.95) will be available this August in North America.”

My goal is to edit my AVCHD video and be able to output .264 in widescreen rather than the 3:4 I’m forced to output that encoding in under MS8. (I can output widescreen in MWV, but not mp4)

    Any thoughts?

    Hey Toney,

Dont sweat the issue of when sony vegas 9 pro will be coming out, by waiting on it….It wont be anytime soon.
So purchase vegas 8, if you are ready to take the step into producing
professional digital content. And for easier integration with AVCHD
content you can also grab a tool name “AVCHD Upshift” from vasst.com
to make things a bit easier if you are gonna use this format.
Sony vegas is competent to tackle almost anything thrown at it right now, plus it is at version 8.0b with 8.0c update to be released soon
with improvements and further updates to follow…..so i doubt very
much you will find yourself editing anything it cannot handle presently.
