When I drop a MP4 file to Vegas7 sometimes it results in video that has primarily green colored block noise artifacts, etc.. The bizarre thing is that when you singleclick a mp4 file, Sony Vegas thinks all mp4’s are of MainConcept AVC which is … like seriously ill-thought out. No one I know uses MainConcept for ANYTHING. I dont know of anyone using MainConcept in their production workflow, even for simple things like youtube videos.

Anyways, I need a way to import Mp4’s into Vegas 7 without introducing block artifact noise and frame stutter.

I was using WinFF (FFMpeg) to make quick and dirty MP4->AVI’s but requiring recompression just doesnt seem too smart either. VirtualDubMod doesn’t even recognize MP4. What is this MainConcept stuff and can I replace the MP4 Interpretation that Vegas uses instead of MainConcept AVC? Perhaps with say, x264 AVC?

You have the same problem within Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 MP4.

It added a crazy sound at the beginning and stutters the frames to several MP4 files.
