Sony Vegas 6.0d Surround panner
Just attempted to use the surround panner to create a 5.1 audio track. For some reason, the actual DB values shown in the surround panner window don’t accurately translate to the gain values being applied to each channel.
For example, the panner might show the left and right front channels to be 35 db down when the target is set for center channel only. Yet the mixer VU controls only indicate the left and right are 9 db below the center.
Anyone else seen this behavior? Any hints? The only positions that seem to give proper attenuation are surround rear, surround left, and surround right. Trying to pan to front center only leaves major amounts of the signal present in all 4 other channels
This leave me unable to hard center an audio signal without major leakage to left and right.
