Sony Vegas 6 rendering freezes
Hello Everyone,
I have been playing with video editing for about 2 years now.
I use Sony Vegas software and I`m stuck with a problem I don`t know what to do anymore. ;-(((
I`m doing just a really simple photo montage, using some png file, and others are just jpeg images, crop and pan tools, some effects, music.
The length of video is about 5 minutes. When rendering to any format, I tried avi, wmv, mpeg, it will freeze at certain point. I tried lowering the Dynamic Ram to 16/then to 1 etc/ and rendering threads to 1. still same problem, so i thought some of the pictures maybe got corrupted in the burning process, so I burned them again on the CD. Trying to figure out which image is corrupted I tried rendering all of the pictures as slide show/no editing/ it will freeze at 72 % all the time. Does anyone experienced same problem.
Never had this problem before , I made a lot of photo montages before.
Today I split the whole project in half and I was rendering about 2:50 minutes at a time. It all went smooth. SO I have two separate videos…ehg.
I tried rendering the whole thing…it froze on the 2 %.
I `m stuck. Thank you for any advice -

Where did you get the pictures from and how did you import them into Vegas?
Are any of the pictures of a really large size? Vegas seems to have trouble with large pictures. Try not to have them any larger than twice the project aspect.
Does the freeze occur at the exact same spot each time . Thant sounds like a corrupted media. Ty removing that media and then see if it renders.
Could be a heat problem with your computer. Try taking off the cover and placeing an external fan to help keep cool. Of course clean any fuzzies from heat sinks.

In addition to Terry’s suggestions above. I’d lilke to add a few things.
A. Try to use all PNG’s and not a mix of file formats.
B. For pan/crop size all the photos the same 1440 x 960. This seems to be an optimum size for Vegas.
C. and probably most important as Terry Says, if Vegas freezes at the same place all the time, That photo is corrupted. I’ve had it happen to me. Take out that photo and see what happens.Hope this helps.

Hello Allen, thank you very much for your insight, I resized all the pictures, I just read your post a minute ago; I kept the png and jpegs./ next time I will use only png. like you suggested/ Great to know what resolutions is ok to use, All the files were about 3000×2500 or something like that…pretty big. I was battling this problem for 2 weeks, going mad actually.;-) Thank you very much.
