Sony Vegas 12/10 will not start renders
Hey guys,
Recently got Vegas 12 put on my buddies computer, which is brand new and newly built. Everything works fine up until he hits render. At that point, no matter what file format he is rendering from, it acts like it is going to start rendering, but doesnt. It never goes past 1% and the estimated time keeps climbing until you force close the application.
I have completely uninstalled and wiped out the registry (even by hand) and re installed and it still does not work. I tried putting my copy of 10e on and it won’t render with that either.

Please list all hardware specs (system drives, where video is stored, render drive, CPU, etc.).

CPU – I7 3770k
MB – Asrock Extreme4
Cooled by h100
GPU – Powercolor 7870 Tahiti LE
Hdd – 64gb crucial m4 and a 1tb seagate 7200 rpm.Video file is on the SSD (the boot drive)
I had the system running with the hard drive and had vegas installed and working, but when I put it on the SSD, then I it would no longer render.

You need at least 2X your estimated project size free on your temp folder and your target folder. So if you are making a 4.7Gb DVD file then you need at least 9.4Gb free on both folders.

64 gigs is probably enough for Windows, but I work hard to minimize the space used by applications on my 80 gig SSD. Whenever possible, I install applications to a much larger normal hard drive. Since your trouble began when you moved Vegas to the SSD, move it back to the hard drive.

I used a 64 gb for a long time. It has paging file and Hibernation turned off so it has about 30gb worth of space. We are dealing with files under 4gb so It’s not some massive render.

The SSD is obviously the cause of the problem since it rendered fine until he switched HDs. Did you make the appropriate BIOS change when you added the SSD? I can’t remember what that change was, but I know that when adding an SSD to an already-configured system that a BIOS change was needed for the SSD to perform properly.
