I don’t know if you already have answered this or if it is even in the right place but I would really appreciate it if someone would respond.
I don’t know if you are familiar with a youtuber named Freddiew and I am only a teen but I want to get into Visual Effects like him, he is the one I look up to, but I don’t like After Effects, I prefer Sony Vegas(I have downloaded both trials), and I was just wondering if After Effects is needed for that stuff or would I be okay with Sony Vegas Pro 11.

Whatever you do, make better videos than him. His videos are nice looking (according to other people, but certainly not me), boring action in which nothing interesting happens. If you could film an interesting scene of two people talking, you’ll have made a better video than anything he’s made.

Ha but the only real question that I can ask now though would be could I track motion with Vegas 11

Could you do it in Vegas? Sure. Would it be easy? No.

To make it workable you would probably need BCC or Boris Red to do some of the more advanced compositing Freddie is doing.

The learning curve is much better on Vegas for the basic work as you work up to more advanced VFX.

I’m not sure Angelo “gets” what FreddieW is about.

So just work on Vegas until I can get to the more advanced VFX

Cole, you may be confusing two issues, maybe not. Motion tracking as a feature is only added as an add on from someone like Boris (I do believe there is nothing I can find in Vegas 11 that does it). I don’t have my copy of Premiere with me but I don’t believe that any of the major packages that edit actually ship that feature standard. So your comment about not liking AE is sort of a different thing than not liking Premiere or Vegas, for example. You can use AE to do motion tracking, or you can use a third party add on in Vegas or for that matter any other NLE. Either way, you buy something to get the job done, beyond the price of the core editing tool. If you already have Vegas, and don’t like trying to master AE (a very advanced tool), then look at buying Boris or one of those add on companies. If you are a student, there may be student pricing if you check with the company who’s addons you want to buy.
