My sound track suddenly went silent and the tracks changed color to grey?

Why is the learning curve so damn long?

Sounds like you’ve muted those tracks or solo’d some other track. Take a look at the mute and solo buttons on the tracks. In the menus there’s also a “Mute All” option you may have turned on. So make sure “Options – Mute All Audio” is not turned on.

Thanks, that was the problem. I wish Sony had a better instruction manual.

I have found many more answers on these Sony Vegas forums than any manual.

I know your frustration. I have been in the learning curve for ages. But the more you learn the easier it is and the more you begin to appreciate the versatility and ease compared to the others. Just hang in and keep asking questions and eventually you will get the hang of it and then realize it isn’t all that hard. You will be glad you did. Your sound is probably muted somewhere. Even in preferences. Others are better at this than I am

In future problems remember you can just reset vegas to default when you open it up by holding ctrl shift down when you click on vegas to open it. This has side effects so you should check it out before you do something like that. But which can you handle better? Frustration or more work? Been there done that!
