  • Sony Vegas 10e freezes when I import a previously rendered .mp4 file (video or audio codec maybe?)

    Okay for the life of me I can’t figure this one out. I put together videos for YouTube and render out in Main Concept AAC/AVC which obviously gives me the .mp4 file. Sometime I need to grab a small clip from those previously rendered files so I’ll throw them back into the time line and grab what I need. SOME not ALL of the files will cause Sony Vegas to freeze up and become unresponsive. The file size doesn’t matter as some shorter videos have done this as well as longer video. I have tried installing Vegas without any video codecs downloaded and have the same issue. Is there a chance it could be an audio codec issue? That’s about the only thing I haven’t tried. Well that and render out in a different format but I’m not really open to changing that unless it’s a last resort. Either way Vegas shouldn’t be freezing up when I import a file that it previously rendered. Anyone have any idea what I can try? Right now I’m running Windows XP Pro if that makes a difference. Thanks!

    Hi;

    I do what you are describing for every video I produce for YouTube. I use Vegas 10e also. My “Sharkbait” leader is an .mp4 rendered with the Main Concept setting, and drop it in to the video before I do the final render prior to uploading.

    An example:

    So, we know that it is possible for 10e to do what you want.

    When vegas crashes, does it give you the option to report the problem to Sony? I still get crashes (for other reasons) in 10e, just far fewer than with 10d, so Sony still needs to work on 10f …

    I’ve the same problem, although I use Sony Vegas 11… I record with a HD PVR and everytime I try to import already rendered mp4 files Vegas crashes. The only codec I’ve installed is the previous version of the PVR codec, because with the latest one there is a bug that won’t let me import .m2ts file into Vegas. Is there a fix?
