  • Sony V1U and Final Cut – still having problems?

I’m thinking of purchasing a V1U and have already bought Final Cut Studio 2. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with importing 24p footage (1080i) from the Sony HVR-V1U and if there are still import issues with Final Cut Pro or if Apple has worked these issues out by now?

    Thanks.

With the KONAH LHe you solve all the problems and come in uncompressed to get the full potential fo HDV.

If I’m ultimately shooting for DVD release, that is 1080i won’t make a difference, am I better of importing the footage in at SD ? In doing this, will I be able to import to Final Cut without any problems?

The V1U is a great camera but it depends on how you will use it. It’s not so good in low-light situations, but otherwise it’s a solid choice. Regarding the 24P option, again make sure that it’s what you really want. For instance if you ever want to slo-mo its flavor of 24P, you’ll regret using the frame rate. The good news is that the camera allows you to shoot in other frame rates. I haven’t had any trouble at all importing the files into FCP…
