November 28, 2007 at 3:32 pmHi Wayne,
The only solution I see at the moment is to bring to the field a couple of FW800 HDs. It seems that downloading can be done quite fast, so (as long as you have where to plug so many machines) it would be not so much extra work. Then, back in town, cleaning the rushes ant to data BlueRay. Hope the double-layer come fast and cheap.
LaCie has just release a BlueRay driver. Looks great and I think Lacie make really good stuff. But the price is 800$ + XDCAM EX+ Batteries+ SS Flash cards+ an IOHD- the HD input card for my JVC monitor (that cost more than the very monitor)+ few FW800 HDs= 17.000US$ to go HD. And this if you don’t need a new computer too.

Do you see my issue with this? Its not the medium but the workflow that you have to use that takes more time in the field. If Sony would have made an item like the P2 Store, there wouldn’t be any issue with this. It looks to me that Panasonic has the advantage on this end.
