    Hi everyone,

At our post house, we have been caught out with an external QC having luma and chroma outside of legal. We normally deliver tapes to ‘Legal’ and NOT ‘Full’. We almost always deliver from Resolve, which has a ‘broadcast safe’ option. We have however found in our experience that this button will pull up and blacks below 0 and pull down any whites above 100. We have no desire to do this as the colourist has setup the colours exactly where he wants. What we want is a hard cut below 0 and above 100, basically removing the super black and super whites that lie between 0-64 and 940-1023.

Is there an option to do this on our SRW-5000 deck and if so, can someone let me know where to find the menu option? The only legalize function I can find is for downconverting to SD.

    Thanks,

    James

Are you planning to broadcast 10-bit video?

You can do this with ffmpeg. Let me know if you need some code but i will need more details about what you’re trying to do.
