Sony PVW 2800P
Posted by Renjith on March 25, 2006 at 3:50 amHi guy’s
I have a sony Pvw 2800P recorder, with a Digital V/A slot. But when i tried to record to that using my Declink Pro SDI out, its not happening. Did this supports SDI??. And in the front pannel of Video input selection tabs there is only 3 types of input selection. Component, composite and SFI….. Whats this SFI???
Can anyone explain and help???

March 25, 2006 at 4:14 amWell, there’s nothing “digital” about BetaCam SP.
Don’t know why there’d be a need to include SDI Ins & Outs on this somewhat old analog deck.
Can’t find any info that suggests SDI is possible with this deck.

March 25, 2006 at 4:19 amSDI is found on DIGIBETA decks, not beta. So you can capture beta if played back on a digibeta deck, but not record to beta, as digibeta decks only record digibeta, not beta.

Contact your reseller and find out what it is. It’s obviously not SDI because that’s an analog machine so it won’t accept a digital input. It might OUTPUT SDI like my J3 model does, but it won’t accept a digital input.
Are you sure it’s not S-Video? My old UVW-1800 machine accepts Component, Composite and S-Video. Is there an S-Video spigot on the back of the machine under Video Input?

March 25, 2006 at 4:36 pmSONY PVW-2800 BetacamSP has 3 switchable positions on the INPUT SELECT: Y-R,B (which is component analog), COMPOSITE and S-VIDEO.
I seen dozens of these machines over the years and never heard of or seen ‘SFI’.
