I have a client who has 2 PVW 2800 decks that have not been used in 5 years. These decks were originally bought in 1993. They are currently not working, but I believe they can be fixed. The client has no use for them, and will never use them again. I’d like to offer them a deal to buy them so I can have them fixed and use them. All the PVW-2800’s I see on ebay are working units. Any ideas as to what I should offer them for these decks? I figure they need new belts, pinch rollers, etc. Any ideas where to get the market value for these? Thanks.

I would call the shop where you plan to have the decks fixed and ask how much they would charge for fixing them given the worst case (replacing the heads along with lots of other more mechanical nick nacks.) Then compare to the prices people are getting consistently on eBay.

I was down a similar road recently with an old beta sp deck (BVW-65.) It was not pleasant or profitable, but now I have a player with dyanamic motion control in my suite
