Posted by Lee Hayward on July 27, 2009 at 3:19 pmive been having system low on memory issues when rendering, now i can render small clips but when i render my main project it wont go past 1% within 10 seconds i get this.

is this a system low on memory issue or something else.
personall i am not satsified with the amount of rendering issues with sony pro vegas.i am using vegas 9.0a and have 3GB ram i have usally 2.2 GB free when vegas closed and 1.5gb free when vegas opened with my main 8 min project, i can render small clips in small projects but i cannot render this project at all, it comes up with error so fast i cannot see the cpu or memory its takes in task manager when rendering

July 27, 2009 at 4:11 pmi managed to get a pic of the render of main project at 0% before the error, i think its related to system low on memory(suprise suprise) could i buy more ram, i have a 32 bit dell xps m1530 with dual core processor with 3 gb ram, if i can upgrade ram what would be ideal could i upgrade to 4gb ram 5gm ram? if so what and where i can i look for this.
i thinks its strange that i only get this error now even though i have rendered these projects many times before. could it be a memory leak? maybe defragment again, clean re-install (did this couple months back)
paging file is 6144

July 27, 2009 at 5:06 pmLee, please give us detailed system specs.
What is your processor?
Amount and type of RAM?
How did you get 3GB RAM in conjunction with a CoreDuo?
Do you have 2 each 1GB sticks, and 2 each .5 GB sticks?
With 3GB RAM, paging file should be 3 x 1.5 = 4.5GB.
With 4GB RAM, paging file should be 4 x 1.5 = 6GB.
Are the minimum and maximum size on your paging file the same?More RAM is always better. RAM is cheap nowadays.
And please run F12 on startup, and run system diagnostics on your RAM.Norman Willis

July 27, 2009 at 6:49 pmi dont know where to start.
how can i find all this information?
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 DUO CPU T8100 @ 2.10GHz 2.10GHz
3.00GB RAM ( how can i find the type )
32-bit operating system( i had my paging file on 3gb x 1.5 but i upscaled it to, 3gb x 2 )
( min and max are the same )i dont know how the ram is like if its 1 2gb and 1 1gb or 2 1gbs and 2 0.5gbs i couldnt say, how i can find this out.
if i can i would like to install more RAM what would be ideal? 4gb ram?5 gb ram? will this fix the problem at hand?

You already have all the RAM that your 32-bit operating system can handle. Buying more RAM would be throwing money away. You would need a 64-bit OS to take advantage of more than 3GB of RAM and you would need a 64-bit CPU to run a 64-bit OS.
I would send the report to Sony has your screen capture shows. I am reading a lot of problems with memory and rendering to WMV with Vegas (I don’t know I don’t use WMV for anything). It is more than likely not something you can fix. Report it to Sony.

Contact Dell. They will know. If you have a Dell Support Center icon in your task tray, double-click on that.

The hypothetical ideal is 4GB, but be aware that Vista 32 only uses about 3.5 of that. Additionally, you can also put a fast SDHC card in an SDHC card reader (if your model has one), or a fast ‘Windows ReadyBoost’ thumb drive in a USB port and enable it for “Windows ReadyBoost”, which gives a slight bump available RAM (and hence a slight bump up in speed).

I just read this.
I do not mean to contradict you, John, as you obviously know lots more about computers and Vegas than I do. But I have been told that Vista 32 can recognize 3.5GB of RAM. Is that wrong?
I apologize I did not pick up on the WMV thing.
