anyone had luck using this deck via firewire?

yes, i know it’s a drop in quality but no choice at the moment. Don’t have any BM card etc.
got the deck today, to capture 20+ digibeta tapes, but Vegas 7b refuses to recognise it.

when i turned on the machine first time, saw the PC recognise it, but nothing else.
windows movie maker also doesn’t see it, if that’s worth anything

thanks – am desperate to get these tapes transferred!

    well, have tried the following:

    – diff firewire cables
    – diff PCs
    – v5 & v7

but no change. PCs aren’t seeing the deck.

So, I tried running the firewire into my PD150 – no problem. J30 outputs perfectly.

also tried, just in case, PD150 into PC, and capture works fine.

    any ideas? 🙁

In the advanced menu of the deck there is a deck control setting (“interface select” or something similar) – and it sounds like it is currently set to 9-pin. You will need to change the deck interface to be “iLink” or “AVC”. Terms vary depending on the age of the deck.

In case previous post did not fix things.
Saw a similar problem once (different camera). Turned out that WinXP
did not see the Cam since it was Service Pack 1. After updating to SP2
XP loaded correct drivers, the camera was then seen in Vegas.

You can check your SP version by checking: Control Panel then System tab.

    Good luck.

    thanks

    SP2 was already installed.

cure was finally to boot up J30 before booting PC, plus ensure WIRE & iLink were set to OFF

    🙂
