    Hi everyone,
This is my first time capturing with Aja IOhd, so please be patient!?!

I’m trying to capture HDCAM 1080 (as ideally uncompressed 10bit hd 4:2:2) into FCP6.02, with a Sony J-H3 deck but can’t work out how to get vtr communication to play ball!

Checked out all the posts here and checked the internet for tips etc but nothing is helping.
Would any genius out there be able to help me i.e. things to check etc?

ANY HELP WOULD BE MOST GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.
    THANK YOU.

    1) The ioHD won’t capture uncompressed.

    2) Have you hooked up Rs-422?

What would be the best option for green screen work?
Shot on HDCAM, would pro-res be ok?
Just realised the rs-322-rs-422 was not in!

What is the closest codec to uncomprossed HD the AJA ioHD offers?

ProResHQ and in my experience ProRes keys well.

    Thanks Jeremy,
Are there any settings on the j-H3 deck that would need checking?

Did you hook up the Rs422?

Hi Jerry, Hooked up rs322/422 and can now capture footage as ( capture now ) IN FCP, BUT NO TIMECODE and cannot control the device through fcp, only manually from the deck (j-h3).
    Any ideas?

    The Kona is RS422 only.
you do not have the deck set correctly, if it has a FW board that maybe your issues as the TC is set to go down the FW path not serial/

Check to see if the deck is set to local or remote also.

Yeah, James, you are confusing me. Did you hook up the port that says something like remote 9 pin to the Kona’s 9 pin port? That is how you get deck control. You should not be using the 232 port. When you open the log and capture window do you get a No Communication message or a VTR in Local message?
