Sony HVR Z1U (HDV CAMERA) capture into FCP
Can one capture HDV footage out of Sony HVR Z1U camera into FCP 5 via firewire cable?
If so, are there any major drawbacks?

No drawbacks to firewire capture whatsoever, but FCP 5 will create new clips at every timecode break whether you want it to do that or not.

Do you mean at every break in timecode or every time you pause the camera?
