A quick question for someone in the know. We are wanting to upgrade our old studio cameras with something much more portable that will work well with FCP. We are looking at the Sony HVR-NX5U which seems to fit our ticket for studio plus large multi cam shoots at seminars/events and such. We want to run these into a switch like the Pany AG-HMX100 switcher. The Sony cams have SDI out and the Panasonic is SDI in but can someone tell me if there would be a concern with genlock? Living in Thailand I haven’t been able to get a straight answer to that question. Thanks! Tom Silkwood, Freedom Films Productions

We have a Panasonic 400 switcher and it does not need gen lock. These go right into that HDSDI. It does say that it has genlock but if you have not bought a switcher yet I would highly recommend the 400. Hope this helps. I would get one on demo and test it out from sony.
