I typically work with the HVX-200- however I have a client who just brought me a Sony FX1 HDV camera with a tape he shot with that same camera. I am trying to import the video into FInal Cut via firewire. I have created an easy setup for HDV 1080i60 Firewire Basic but receive a dialog box stating the computer is unable to locate the following external devices: HDV (1440 x 1080) 60i.

Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

    Your help is appreciated.

The Easy Setup should be HDV 1080i60 Firewire (not basic) and that should do it. It’s pretty simple.

Actually, you need to go into the menus and set your camera’s iLink Conv to the opposite that you have it now. Meaning, if its on, turn it off. If its off, turn it on.

The reason I say this is because different Macs with different version of FCP work differently. We have a Mac G4 used for logging, and we have to turn iLink Conv to off. Then I have to turn it back on for my Mac Pro.
