Sony HDV AV/C Subunit driver problem solved… (long, but needs to be!)
Posted by Chris Young on September 7, 2006 at 2:23 pmWas curious to see if anyone else has had the following problem. Did a search on Google to discover posts from all over the world in every language where people could not get their Sony Z1 HDV cameras and Sony HDV HVR-M25 vtr

Off and on more than I should have. Maybe a day spread out over a few days. This approach should work for almost any firewire device that comes up as unrecognised in Device Manager. The trick is finding out the Hardware ID codes for the device involved so that it can be entered into the AVC.INF file. This in turn talks to the drivers required and then the process loads the required AVC entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the registry. It’s a black art understanding that registry, quite a brain twister at times. Remind me not to go there again!

April 27, 2008 at 1:37 amI am desperate to locate the detail on this solution, but cannot find it here, even in the archives. Can someone point me to where this info is visible? Thanks!

Yes I know your frustration. I kept a record of how I sorted this annoying problem out. It’s fairly long winded so best you contact me off forum and I can send you a zipped Word .doc file with what worked for me. You can reach me on:
cyvideo ‘at’ ozemail.com.au just replace the ‘at’ of course with the @.Chris Young
