    Hello:

i have a sony HD AVCHD camera.

is there any digital (not analog) way to get the footage off of the camera – but in a format that Premiere Pro will recognize.

currently it must be retrieved in a .M2TS format.

there is no firewire on this system.

    craziest thing i’ve ever seen.

thanks in advance for any advice

Isn’t there instructions on how to move the files into your computer in the instruction manual? don’t they give you a USB cable? you could use USB to move the files on the camera into the computer and use something like Nero Vision from ultra 7 to convert the video

You didn’t mention whether you’re on a PC or Mac; but for Mac, I use an app called Voltaic (it’s available for PC as well)

For $30 it does a very nice job at converting AVCHD files (for me anyway). I convert them to the iMovie format and they drop right into Premiere Pro. I haven’t noticed a drop in quality either. I usually like to convert to 720p, not 1080i.
